Good afternoon
I want to share several finalized administrative staffing changes that were reviewed with the School Board in closed session last night (July 8).
These leadership transitions reflect our shared commitment to stability, growth, and strong student-centered results across Gloucester County Public Schools.
Dr. Stefan Mygas – Director of Secondary Instruction
Dr. Mygas transitions from Principal at Gloucester High School to Director of Secondary. Under his leadership, GHS achieved its highest on-time graduation rate, improved student climate, and earned statewide academic and extracurricular honors. He brings over a decade of leadership experience and a relentless drive for results.
Mr. Ade’ Brayboy – Acting Principal, Gloucester High School
Mr. Brayboy brings more than 20 years of service as an educator and administrator. He has served at all school levels and is widely respected for his student-centered leadership, his ability to improve school climate, and his strong relationships with families and staff. He most recently supported Page as interim administrator and will now serve as Acting Principal at GHS.
Ms. Shanna Merritt – Acting Principal, Page Middle School
Ms. Merritt moves from Assistant Principal at Peasley to Acting Principal at Page Middle. She brings more than 15 years of educational experience, including seven years teaching science at Page. She’s served in Hampton City Schools and in Immokalee, Florida, and holds dual master’s degrees with endorsements in science and gifted education. She’s known for her focus on student achievement, school culture, and instructional leadership.
Ms. Christie Pica – Assistant Principal, Page Middle School
Ms. Pica joins us from York County, where she served as Lead Teacher and previously as Curriculum Coordinator. She brings two decades of experience in coaching teachers, driving curriculum improvements, and raising performance standards. Her leadership background will help strengthen our systems of support for staff and students.
Internal Transfers:
Ms. Nicole Lantz – From Assistant Principal at Abingdon to Assistant Principal at Petsworth. Ms. Lantz brought strong instructional leadership and behavior systems to Abingdon and will now serve the Petsworth community.
Ms. Francis (Rita) Garcia – From Assistant Principal at Petsworth to Assistant Principal at Abingdon. Ms. Garcia has seven years of administrative experience and helped lead Petsworth to district-leading academic growth. She brings deep experience in reading interventions and literacy development.
Dr. Sarah Miura – From Assistant Principal at Page to Assistant Principal at Peasley. Dr. Miura has two years of administrative experience and a background in secondary math instruction. We thank her for her service to Page families and staff.
Please join me in congratulating our colleagues on these new roles and offering your full support during these transitions.
Every one of these leaders brings talent, heart, and dedication to our mission.
I’m proud of the work ahead.
Anthony Vladu, Ed.D.
