RE: Procedure for Appointing School Board Member to Vacant At-Large Seat
The Gloucester County School Board will accept letters of interest and resumes from qualified candidates, who must be registered voters of Gloucester County, for the School Board seat that has been vacated by Kellie L. Lockerby, Member At-Large effective August 4, 2023.
Letters of interest and resumes should be submitted to Ms. Carol B. Dehoux, Clerk of the Gloucester County School Board, 6099 T.C. Walker Road, Gloucester, VA 23061 (or by email to [email protected]), by Friday, August 18, 2023.
The School Board will hold a closed meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023, in Conference Room A111 of the Thomas Calhoun Walker Education Center. The School Board anticipates that the appointment of a School Board member for the vacant At-Large position will be made in open session on August 21, 2023, following the closed meeting. The appointed member shall be asked to attend the September 12, 2023, School Board monthly meeting. The appointment will be for a term beginning September 9, 2023, and ending December 31, 2023.
It is anticipated that a special election will be held for this At-Large School Board Seat on November 7, 2023.
